'Living history' theme for poetry reading

The Word Is Out open-mike poetry reading will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Forsyth County Central Library, 600 W. Fifth St.

Admission is free.

Those interested in poetry and the spoken word may read their own or others' works, or just listen.

Amatullah Saleem will be the host. The optional theme will be "Living History Stories."

Poet to read from her new collection

Terri Kirby Erickson will read from and sign copies of her new poetry collection, Telling Tales of Dusk, from 2 to 4 p.m. next Sunday at Imagine Flowers & Gifts, 560 N. Trade St.

Admission is free.

What Doesn't Kill You: Press 53 is accepting submissions of fiction or nonfiction stories of struggle.

Entries may be 100 to 10,000 words.

The deadline is Dec. 31.
