SECCA will present a series of three films examining the rise of street art, featuring the internationally known street artist, Roadsworth. The films are:
□ Style Wars, 7 p.m. Thursday, Krankies Coffee, 211 E. Third St. The documentary is directed and produced by Tony Silver, and explores the hip-hop subculture. There will be a post-screening discussion with Will Boone, a professor in the English and Foreign Language Department at Winston-Salem State University, where he teaches a course in hip-hop and African-American literature.
□ NEXT: A Primer on Urban Painting, 7 p.m. Friday, Krankies Coffee, 211 E. Third St. A documentary directed by Pablo Aravena exploring graffiti-based visual art as a world culture. There will be a post-screening discussion with director Pablo Aravena by way of Skype.
□ Roadsworth: Crossing the Line, 7 p.m. Saturday, Diggs Gallery, WSSU, 601 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. A documentary directed by Alan Kohl detailing the campaign by street artist Roadsworth to make his mark on the streets of Montreal. There will be a post-screening discussion with the artist.
