Angels & Demons (PG-13): Tom Hanks returns in a sequel to The DaVinci Code. Like the first film, this one focuses on ancient secret societies, hidden clues and global conspiracies. It's available on DVD in a single-disc theatrical edition or a two-disc extended edition with bonus material; the Blu-ray has both versions and even more extras.
Funny People (R and Unrated): Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up) wrote and directed this amiable but overlong film about a comedy megastar (Adam Sandler) who befriends an up-and-coming comic. Extras include a documentary, gag reel, test footage, deleted scenes and more. The Blu-ray also includes a bonus iPhone app.
Shorts (PG): Director Robert Rodriguez's latest kid's film is an episodic story revolving around a group of youngsters who get hold of a rock that grants wishes. Extras include a 10-minute film school and a cooking lesson.
Taking Chances (R): In this romantic comedy, a historic re-enactor (Justin Long) joins forces with the town vixen (Emmanuelle Chriqui) to save a local landmark. The supporting cast includes Missi Pyle, an alumnus of the UNC School of the Arts.
The Indian (Unrated): A teenager and his father bond as they repair an old motorcycle in this family-friendly drama.
Toi & Moi (Unrated): This French comedy, with English subtitles, follows a writer (Marion Cotillard) who uses her sister's (Julie Depardieu) love life as material for her stories.
Megafault (Unrated): Brittany Murphy and Eriq LaSalle star in this campy disaster movie, which originally aired on the SyFy channel.
Santa Buddies (G): Get ready for more merry mischief with the adorable little talking puppies. This time around, they're helping out none other than Santa Claus (George Wendt).
Four Christmases (PG-13): A yuppie couple (Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn) navigate their way through dysfunctional families and assorted mishaps as they spend the holidays with their extended families.
Rome -- The Complete Series: HBO's sprawling saga of life in ancient Rome, which ran for two seasons, is now available in one DVD boxed set and makes its Blu-ray debut. Extras include 13 commentaries and nine featurettes; the Blu-ray adds several interactive on-screen guides.
The Best of Spike Jones: Comical bandleader Jones is the focus of this three-disc boxed set with more than 60 performances from his 1954-61 TV series.
Ghost in the Shell 2.0 on Blu-ray (Unrated): Despite the "2.0" this is not a sequel to the 1996 anime classic, it's a remastered version of the original with new computer-generated footage added. The movie is set in futuristic Hong Kong.
Blood -- The Last Vampire on Blu-ray (unrated): From the creator of Ghost in the Shell, this anime film follows a pretty schoolgirl who is actually a vampire as she takes on monstrous bat-creatures.
Leon the Professional on Blu-ray (R): This 1994 thriller follows an assassin (Jean Reno) who takes in a troubled 12-year-old girl (Natalie Portman, in her feature-film debut) after her family is slaughtered. Together, they take on a corrupt DEA agent (Gary Oldman). Extras include a retrospective, featurettes, and a trivia track.
New on Blu-ray: The Monster Squad, a 1987 cult favorite about kids who take on famous monsters; Stephen King's Cujo, in a 25th-anniversary edition; sex, lies, and videotape; Angel Heart; The Way of the Gun; the 1981 version of My Bloody Valentine; and New Police Story with Jackie Chan.
