Theater Briefs: Witchcraft trials conjure up a play

The School of Drama at UNC School of the Arts will present Caryl Churchill's Vinegar Tom, at Performance Place, 1533 S. Main St. The play, directed by Robert Francesconi, is a story of prejudice, hate and fear that explores women's vulnerability and men's abuse of power through the witchcraft trials in 17th-century England.

Showtimes are 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and next Sunday.

Tickets are $12, $10 for students and senior adults. For more information and to buy tickets, call 770-3340.
