The second Revolve Film and Music Festival will run Friday through May 24 at Wake Forest University's Carswell Hall unless otherwise noted. Tickets are $5 for most shows.

Playing in the Shadows, 53 minutes. Documentary feature in English. 7 p.m. Drama Workshop, Salem Fine Arts Center, Salem College. US Premiere. Follows a group of kids growing up in a Sydney, Australia, housing project who form a basketball team. Contains adult language. Reception at Meridian restaurant to follow.
Thursday, May 21
Hair: Let the Sun Shine In, 55 minutes. Documentary feature in English. 7 p.m. The story behind the anti-war, pro-sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll musical that broke cultural ground on Broadway in 1968. Contains adult themes.
Friday, May 22
Mellodrama, 75 minutes. Documentary feature in English. 2:30 p.m. followed by a live video Q&A with filmmaker Dianna Dilworth. Explores the Mellotron and the Chamberlain -- two quirky, often unreliable electronic keyboards created in the 1940s, '50s and '60s and used by musicians from the Beatles and the Beach Boys to Radiohead and Alicia Keys.
Music Night
A listening party at 5 p.m. for Murmur, the1983 REM album (free, but there's limited capacity, so to get directions, send an e-mail with the number of people attending to revolvefestival@earthlink.net).
The listening party will be followed by a discussion at 8 p.m. with Murmur producers Mitch Easter and Don Dixon, then performances by Dixon, Easter and Winston-Salem band Jews and Catholics, at The Garage, 110 W. Seventh St. $10.
Saturday, May 23
Chasing Birds, 54 minutes. Documentary feature in English. 2 p.m. A look into the extreme sport of competitive bird-watching, Chasing Birds shadows three teams and their binoculars through Birds Australia's national bird-watching race, the Twitchathon.
Saturday Shorts: The Cat Piano, From Coats to Capes, Ramones Are Not Dead, Touch of a Kiss, Scrababble. About 60 minutes. 4 p.m. Short but sweet films about such topics as flamenco dancing, Scrabble and people so obsessed with the Ramones that they changed their last name to Ramone.
Milky Way Liberation Front, 101 minutes. Narrative feature in Korean and English with subtitles. 8 p.m. A geeky, rookie filmmaker is working on his first feature and has writer's block. Suddenly, he loses the ability to speak -- just like his main character.
Sunday, May 24
Four of a Kind, 114 minutes. Narrative feature in English. 3 p.m. Four women are connected by a dark secret. Murder, infidelity and intrigue, oh my. Based on the play, Disclosure. Contains adult themes.
The Wrecking Crew, 95 minutes. Documentary feature in English. 5 p.m. Director Denny Tedesco's labor of love -- the story about his father's day job as a member of a group of the prolific but relatively unknown Los Angeles session musicians behind hits for the Beach Boys, The Monkees, Nancy Sinatra, Sonny and Cher, the Mamas and the Papas, and others. $10. Followed by a closing party at Meridian.
