A combination of live action, filmed performances and archival racing footage, the play covers Johnson, the Wilkes County NASCAR legend, from his days running moonshine to his 1960 win of the Daytona 500. It was produced in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through next Sunday and Oct. 9-12 outdoors at Forest's Edge Amphitheatre at Fort Hamby Park.

Tickets are $15, with a $3 discount for those who can present proof that they had to travel more than 60 miles for the performance. On opening night, residents of Forsyth and Yadkin counties who present proof of residency will be admitted for $10. For details, call 336-838-7529 or see www.WilkesPlaymakers.com.
