■ The prostitute at the center of the scandal that brought down former governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer , has apologized to his wife. Ashley Alexandra Dupre tells People magazine that the FBI told her in early March that it was investigating one of her clients. A few days later, she found out which client when she recognized Spitzer on TV -- resigning. "I try not to revisit that place too often, but when I think about his speech, I think of her face, her eyes, the hurt," Dupre said of Spitzer's wife. Her message to Silda Wall Spitzer: "I'm sorry for your pain." Dupre, 23, said that Spitzer was polite and businesslike when they met. "Some guys, they want to have conversations and really get to know each other. With him, it clearly was not like that," she said. "It was more of a transaction. Strictly business." Dupre also sat down with Diane Sawyer of ABC for a 20/20 segment to be aired Friday.
■ Hip-hop mogul Marion "Suge" Knight is facing criminal charges in Las Vegas, stemming from an incident in which police said they found him beating his girlfriend just off a busy thoroughfare. Knight is charged with two counts of felony drug possession and one count of misdemeanor battery, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Las Vegas Justice Court. The complaint filed by the Clark County District Attorney's Office accuses Knight of striking a woman identified as Melissa Isaac. Police say they arrested Knight in August after they saw him beating the woman in a parking lot near the Las Vegas Strip while brandishing a knife. Authorities said that the woman wasn't stabbed, but she was treated at a hospital for injuries. The complaint says that Knight was carrying Ecstasy and hydrocodone when he was arrested. He was later released after posting $19,000 bail. Defense attorney Richard Schonfeld said that Knight planned to enter a not guilty plea at his arraignment Dec. 16.
■ Actor James Van Der Beek is back at creekside. Five years after his star-making turn as the center of Dawson's Creek came to an end, Van Der Beek is back on a sound stage at Wilmington, N.C. -- working with some of his former crew colleagues -- for a guest appearance on the CW's teen drama One Tree Hill . The episode will air Monday night. Van Der Beek has tried to distance himself from his days as Dawson Leery, a film-crazed teen with aspirations of becoming a director. He returned to North Carolina to play a director on One Tree Hill who is interested in turning a book written by Chad Michael Murray's character into a film. Van Der Beek will appear in three episodes, with the rest airing in January after the show returns from a holiday break .
■ Actress Winona Ryder was briefly hospitalized after falling ill yesterday on a flight to London's Heathrow Airport, her publicist, Mara Buxbaum, said. Buxbaum said that Ryder, 37, was taken to a West London hospital "as a precaution" and had been released. She declined to go into details of Ryder's illness.
