Wine: Divine Llama 2009 Traminette Gold.
Cost: $17.
Review: Divine Llama Vineyards opened in 2009. It's named after the herd of llamas that share the property. This small vineyard is a partnership between Michael West and Tom Hughes, two architects and longtime friends, and their wives, Patricia West and Julia Hughes. Divine Llama is one of several vineyards in the state that are experimenting with traminette, a hybrid grape that exhibits many of the same traits as gewürztraminer, one of its parents. Divine Llama's Traminette Gold is one of two traminettes that it makes. This one is dry. It starts off with the distinctive gewürztraminer aromas of spice and honeysuckle. The flavors, too, continue the gewurz tradition of lychee fruit, with a hint of cinnamon. This medium-body wine is well rounded. and the flavors continue through a lingering finish. Serve with Thai or other spicy Asian dishes. It is available at the winery. For more information, visit www.divinellamavineyards.com.
