N.C. State has received a commitment from one of the state's top high-school players -- defensive lineman Fre'Shad Hunter of Cary.
Hunter, a 6-4, 260-pound senior at Cary High, was named a preseason All-America by SuperPrep and was ranked No. 35 in the nation at his position. The magazine also ranked him No. 7 among seniors in North Carolina.
Hunter, who has followed N.C. State since he was a boy, also had scholarship offers from East Carolina, Florida State, LSU, Maryland, Oregon, Syracuse, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. He can sign the bind national letter of intent at the start of the NCAA signing period in February.
Hunter had 60 tackles, 12 tackles for losses and six sacks as a junior. He is the third player from SuperPrep's top-10 list of seniors in North Carolina to commit to the Wolfpack. The others are offensive lineman Robert Crisp from Chapel Hill, who is No. 1, and receiver Anthony Creecy from Durham, who is No. 9.
