CLEMMONS - Two wrecks that happened within minutes of each other on Interstate 40 yesterday afternoon stalled traffic, but left no one injured, N.C. Highway Patrol officials said.
One wreck occurred at 4:02 near the Harper Road exit in Clemmons, an agency dispatcher said. He didn't have any other details, and the trooper investigating could not be reached.
The other wreck happened at 4:07 on westbound I-40 in Davie County near the N.C. 801 exit, said Trooper Eric Roten. Traffic was already heavy because lane closures for construction work.
A tractor trailer stopped, and another tractor trailer ran into it, Roten said. A pick-up truck then rear-ended the second tractor-trailer, he said.
John Massey, 26, of Edgewood, Texas, and Weyman Jewell, 59, of Mocksville, were both charged with failure to reduce speed.
The wreck stalled traffic for about an hour and a half, Roten said.
