MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- Hooker Furniture Corp. said this week that it will close a distribution center in Carson, Calif., by Sept. 30.
The company said it is closing the 80,000-square-foot warehouse, which it opened in early 2008, as part of an effort to lower warehousing and distribution expenses and to consolidate warehouse space.
The warehouse was opened to better serve West Coast retailers and reduce shipping times.
Hooker said that closing the center should result in annual savings of about $1.2 million, beginning in October.
