Lance Inc. reports record revenues in its third quarter

CHARLOTTE -- Lance Inc. reported net income of $8.8 million, or 27 cents a diluted share for its third quarter, compared with $6.8 million, or 21 cents a diluted share, for its third quarter 2008.
During the quarter, advertising and merchandising spending were up $3.3 million from the third quarter 2008. Lance also had $1.3 million in pre-tax costs related to several items, including the closing and moving of production from Little Rock, Ark., to Charlotte.
The company had record revenues of $234.9 million, an increase of 4 percent, compared with $225.6 million for its third quarter in 2008.
