Reagan played visiting West Forsyth tough for a little over a half last night, but in the end, the Titans put the Raiders away 28-11.

Coach Adrian Snow of West said the Raiders aren't as bad as their 1-8 record would indicate.

"I'm telling you, they've played some good teams, lost to some good teams," Snow said. "They're going to give us their best shot every year."

Snow said the Titans didn't play their best game, but he had a short response to that: "9-0, that's all."

And that made him think of next week's opponent.

"R.J. Reynolds, 9-0. Enough said," he said with a smile.

Bobby Clark, Ricky Brown, Patrick Midkiff and Kersey Anthony scored for West. Clark had 162 yards rushing on nine carries, and Kersey ran 11 times for 50 as West (9-0, 3-0 Central Piedmont 4-A) ran for 212 yards on 30 carries. Midkiff was 18 of 24 passing for 202 yards and one touchdown.

Kyle Patterson scored a touchdown for Reagan (1-8, 0-3), which rushed for 126 yards and passed for 89.

Except for a long run and a late touchdown by West, the Raiders dominated most of the first half.

Reagan scored on the opening drive, which featured a pass interference call on West and a running-into-the-punter call on West. The Raiders reached the West 26 on a 4-yard run by Nick Hatch. A false start on Reagan moved the ball back to the 31, and Brian Saakvitne kicked a 47-yard line-drive field goal with 7:18 left in the first quarter.

The Titans needed two plays to go ahead. On second and 15, Clark ran up the middle, veered to the right and outran the Raiders' defense for an 85-yard touchdown run.

"He's a good kid," Snow said of Clark. "He works hard. It's his ninth game at running back. Last year, he was a safety. He's still trying to learn what we want, but he's beginning to understand."

The Raiders later took over after a punt to their 33 and got back-to-back 13-yard runs to start the drive. The 12-play, 67-yard drive reached the West 1, but Nick Hatch was stopped for no gain on fourth down.

On second and 10, the Raiders tackled Clark in the end zone for a safety, making the score 7-5.

The Raiders' Michael Bonifay ran a keeper 18 yards to the West 35, and Bonifay later passed 13 yards to Dion Garrett to the West 15. Reagan moved to the Titans 9-yard line, and Bonifay hit Kyle Patterson on a flat pass that carried to the end zone. The extra point made it 11-7 with 3:21 left in the half.

The Titans used most of the rest of the half to go 80 yards for the go-ahead touchdown. The big plays were Clark's 18-yard run, Midkiff's 16-yard pass to Anthony Vegerano, and Midkiff's pass to Brown that carried to the Reagan 7. On second and 10, Midkiff hit Brown on a slant for the touchdown, and the kick made it 14-11 with 6 seconds left in the half.

West started at its 33-yard line after taking a punt with 4:47 left in the third quarter. The Titans got four first downs, and the big play was a 10-yard flat pass from Midkiff to Clark that carried to the 11. On second down, Midkiff ran up the middle for the touchdown and a 21-11 lead.

Anthony iced the game with a 5-yard touchdown run with 2:53 left.
