■ Community Haunted House: A haunted house continues at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday at the old Lansing School on N.C. 194 North in Lansing. It'll start at the same time on Oct. 30 and 31.
Cost is $5 per person. Shirley Farmer, an organizer, said that the money is going toward expenses and a donation to the local American Legion.

■ Fundraiser Festival: Rose Tara Plantation Long Term Care, 125 Plantation Drive, King, will hold a festival with a yard sale, chicken stew and live music from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

■ Family Fun Day: Winston-Salem State Walkertown Little League will hold a Fall Family Fun Day, with inflatables, food vendors, face painting, etc., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wakertown Little League Complex off Sullivantown Road. A chicken stew begins at 5 p.m.; bring a chair and enjoy live music.
■ Family Fall Dance Jam: The American Heart Association will host a father/daughter, mother/son dance from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bur-Mil Park's Clubhouse, 5834 Bur-Mil Club Road, Greensboro. Tickets are $8 for children 12 and under, $12 for adults and $30 for a family 4-pack. Costume contests and refreshments will be featured. n Touch-A-Truck: The Children's Museum of Winston-Salem will hold its annual Touch- A-Truck event from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the museum parking lot, 390 S. Liberty St. Emergency-response vehicles, construction equipment and military vehicles will be on display.

■ Conference on prevention of child abuse: Our House child-advocacy center will host a conference on meeting the educational needs of foster children on Friday, Nov. 6 in North Wilkesboro. The conference is open to professionals and the general public. The registration fee is $40; it includes lunch, materials and five contact hours of instruction. The deadline to preregister is Thursday, Nov. 5.
