WILMINGTON
Democrats in North Carolina are holding health care events across the state, trying to build support for President Barack Obama's overhaul agenda.
The Democratic National Committee's Organizing for America project is hoping to spur 100,000 calls to Congress on Monday. Nine events across the state, from Wilmington to Hendersonville, will include a live link to Obama encouraging volunteers from around the country.
The White House is waiting for Congress to finish negotiations on a final health care bill. The insurance industry has started fighting the health care effort, contending that it would drive up premiums for the insured. Democrats dispute that conclusion.
