The Open Dream Ensemble, a professional, multidisciplinary children's theater group and outreach program of the UNC School of the Arts, will present a new original play at the Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir, and a curriculum-based, three-day residency at the Montessori School of Winston-Salem.
The play, Dream Machines: The Impossible Happens, follows the lives of Orville, Wilber and Katharine Wright as they pursue their dream of flying; Henry Ford's dreams of automobiles; and Octave Chanute's fascination with trains and early aviation. Show times are 9:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Oct. 27. The performances are sponsored by the Caldwell County Arts Council, and there is no charge.
The Ensemble's residency at the Montessori School will be Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 and 6.
The program highlights the importance of responsibility, teamwork, diligence, imagination and intellectual curiosity.
