At least one Winston-Salem State player will have fans cheering for him in Saturday's game at California Davis. Wide receiver Dominique Fitzgerald will play in front of his father, Keith Baker, for the first time since his Pee Wee football days.

"It's pretty exciting," Fitzgerald said.

Baker, who lives outside of San Francisco, has lived in California since Fitzgerald was about 10. Fitzgerald was raised by his mother, Michelle Foster, in Danville, Va.

"We've kept in touch through the years, but it was hard for him to come out to the East Coast to watch me play in high school," said Fitzgerald, a sophomore who starred at George Washington High.

Baker, who works in the computer field, will take about 15 family members and friends to the game at 11,000-seat Aggie Stadium.

"I was able to get everybody tickets," Fitzgerald said. "I'm just glad there will be a little section of Rams fans."

Fitzgerald plans to meet his father at the team's hotel after the Rams arrive today.

"It's going to be nice to see him," Fitzgerald said. "I'm pretty lucky that we are having a game out there in California."

Fitzgerald has six catches for 81 yards and a touchdown and is the team's top punt returner with seven returns for 56 yards.
