Milligan at WSSU

• Site, time: Gaines Center, 7 p.m.

• Radio: WPET 950 AM

• Of note: Winston-Salem State (1-4) lost its last game, 76-52 to Wake Forest last week. Coach Bobby Collins moved small forward Shelton Carter to power forward for that game, but Shelton, the team's leading scorer at 14.2 ppg, went just 2 for 11 from the field. Brian Fisher was bothered by a slightly injured ankle against the Deacons but should play tonight…. Milligan, an NAIA school from Tennessee, lost to Mars Hill 98-59 last week to fall to 1-6. Emmanuel Colon, at 6-7, is tallest player on the roster, and Bill Robinson is in his first season as head coach.

Winthrop at ASU

• Site, time: Holmes Center, Boone, 7 p.m.

• Radio: WKBC 97.3, WBLO 790

• Of note:
Appalachian (3-3) remained unbeaten at home Saturday with a dramatic 93-92 OT victory over Morgan State. Junior guard Donald Sims scored 19 in the win and remains ASU's leading scorer (15.7 ppg). Junior center Ike Butts added 14 points and 13 rebounds against Morgan State…. Winthrop (2-2) has wins over Limestone (57-55) and USC Upstate (49-46) and losses to College of Charleston (69-57) and Clemson (102-66). The Eagles are averaging just 57 points and shooting 36 percent from the field, and sophomore guard Andre Jones is the only double-figures scorer (10 ppg).
