No sooner is the Thanksgiving feast over than it's time for holiday parades to begin. In Winston-Salem, the Jaycees' annual Holiday Parade will be Dec. 5. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. at Poplar and Fourth streets, and will end at Corpening Plaza, at the intersection of Liberty and First streets.

Here are the parades we've heard about in other towns in the area:

Alleghany County

Sparta: 2 p.m. Nov. 28. The parade will start at Sparta School on Main Street in downtown Sparta and end at Trojan Village Shopping Center.

Davidson County

Lexington: 6 p.m. Dec. 7. The parade will begin at North Main Street at Hemstead Street and continue 1.3 miles to end at South Main Street and Ninth Avenue.

Midway: 1 p.m. Nov. 28. The parade will begin at intersection of Gumtree Road and Hebron Church Road and ends at U.S. 52 and Eller Road. A Christmas Celebration before the parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the lawn at Oak Forest United Methodist Church, with crafts, food and music.

Davie County

Mocksville: 2 p.m. Dec. 5. The parade will be held on Main Street in downtown Mocksville.

Advance: 10 a.m. Dec. 12. The parade will begin at Shady Grove Elementary School.

Forsyth County

Kernersville: 2:30 p.m. Dec. 6. It begins at the corner of Highway 66 and East Mountain Street, and continues to Kernersville Elementary School. There will be a handicapped viewing area at NewBridge Bank parking lot. After the parade, the Rotary Club pancake supper will be held at Kernersville Elementary from 4 to 7 p.m.

Lewisville: 3 p.m. Dec. 13. The parade will start at the corner of Lewisville-Vienna and Shallowford roads and go down Shallowford Road.

Rural Hall: 2:30 p.m. Dec. 6. Will start at the 3 Brothers convenience store on Broad Street and go to the Rural Hall Elementary School on Washington Street.

Walkertown: 1 p.m. Dec. 5. The parade will begin at Walkertown Middle School; parade lineup will begin at noon.

Guilford County

Greensboro: 12 p.m. Dec. 5 in downtown Greensboro. Santa Claus and Macy's-style balloons will parade down Greene Street from the Greensboro Jaycee Office, 401 N. Greene St., to East Market Street, to Church Street, ending in front of the Children's Museum.

Stokes County

Danbury: 5 p.m. Dec. 2 in downtown Danbury.

King: 2 p.m. Dec. 5. The theme will be "Christmas in Toyland," and Boy Scout Troop 409 will be conducting a toy drive to benefit Stokes County children. To donate a toy, hand it to the Scouts, who will be collecting toys to benefit Stokes County children as they walk the parade route.

Walnut Cove: 2 p.m. Dec. 12 in from Southeast Stokes Middle School down 311 south to Oldtown Road.

Surry County

Dobson: 2 p.m. Dec. 5. The lineup will be at 1 p.m.

Mount Airy: 3 p.m. Dec. 6, on Main Street downtown. The parade will begin at Veterans Park.

Wilkes County

North Wilkesboro and Wilkesboro: 1 p.m. Dec. 5. The parade will begin on Main Street in North Wilkesboro and go through downtown to end on Main Street in Wilkesboro. Santa Claus will be riding on the fire truck.

Watauga County

Blowing Rock: 2 p.m. Nov. 28 on Main Street.

Boone: 10 a.m. Dec. 12 in downtown Boone.

Yadkin County

Yadkinville: 10 a.m. Dec. 5 in downtown Yadkinville.
