No. 1 Kansas 89, Oakland, Mich. 59: Marcus Morris and Xavier Henry each scored 19 points, leading Kansas over visiting Oakland, Mich., last night that stretched the nation's longest home-court winning streak to 44 games.
Morris, a 6-8 sophomore showing significant progress since an inconsistent freshman season, added 11 rebounds. He shot 6 for 10 from the field, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range, and committed only one turnover for the Jayhawks (4-0).
No. 13 Connecticut 81, LSU 55: Jerome Dyson and backcourt mate Kemba Walker each scored 20 points, and Connecticut routed previously unbeaten LSU last night in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off.
Gavin Edwards added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Huskies, who advanced to play No. 7 Duke or Arizona State for the championship on Friday at Madison Square Garden. Stanley Robinson finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Wisconsin 78, No. 21 Maryland 69: Jason Bohannon scored 20 points and Jon Leuer added 16 to lead Wisconsin over Maryland in the third-place game of the Maui Invitational yesterday at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Trevon Hughes scored 14 points for the Badgers (4-1), who made 10 of 22 3-point attempts, including four from Bohannon.
Greivis Vasquez led Maryland (4-2) with 18 points.
No. 24 Vanderbilt 84, Arizona 72: A.J. Ogilvy scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Jermaine Beal added 18 points and five assists to lead Vanderbilt over Arizona in the fifth-place game of the Maui Invitational yesterday.
ETSU 77, College of Charleston 71: Justin Tubbs scored a career-best 29 points as East Tennessee State survived a late rally by visiting College of Charleston last night.
Tubbs had 18 of the first 27 points for the Buccaneers (2-3), who took a 27-16 lead with 6:38 left in the first half and led 40-30 at halftime.
Miami 77, Florida Gulf Coast 58: DeQuan Jones scored a career-high 16 points to pace Miami in a victory over visiting Florida Gulf Coast last night.
James Dews added 15 on five 3-pointers and Malcolm Grant also scored in double figures with 14 for the Hurricanes (6-0), who are off to best start since 2007-08, when they were 12-0.
Miami went on a 12-2 run to start the game, keyed by two 3-pointers by Dews, and took a 39-23 lead into halftime.
Davidson 78, Fredonia State 37: Will Archambault scored 22 points and Davidson beat visiting Fredonia State last night.
After a 9-9 tie with 14:45 left in the first half, the Wildcats (1-4) went on a 15-5 run and weren't challenged for the rest of their home opener.
JP Kuhlman, who finished with 11 points, gave Davidson a 24-14 lead on a layup with 6:42 left until halftime.
Kuhlman and Archambault scored 11 and 10 points in the first half, respectively, for the Wildcats, who led 32-20 at halftime.
Auburn 75, High Point 54: Nick Barbour led visiting High Point in scoring for the fourth time this season with 14 points and Corey Law had nine points and seven rebounds in the Panthers' loss to Auburn last night.
High Point dropped to .500 (2-2) and Auburn improved to .500 (3-3).
No. 3 Ohio State 89, UNC Greensboro 56: Jantel Lavender scored 27 points and Samantha Prahalis added 13 points and 11 assists to lead Ohio State over visiting UNC Greensboro last night.
Lavender stretched her double-figures scoring streak to 72 games.
No. 4 North Carolina 92, Presbyterian 37: Waltiea Rolle scored a career-high 17 points to help North Carolina rout visiting Presbyterian yesterday.
Cierra Robertson-Warren added 15 points for the Tar Heels (4-0), who won by more than 30 points for the third time this season. Italee Lucas and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt scored 12 points apiece as North Carolina shot 52 percent from the field.
No. 6 Tennessee 69, Middle Tennessee 52: Glory Johnson scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and visiting Tennessee beat Middle Tennessee last night before the first sellout crowd in Blue Raiders' history.
Angie Bjorklund had 16 points and Shekinna Stricklen 12 for Tennessee (4-0).
No. 7 LSU 73, Tulane 65 (OT): LaSondra Barrett scored seven of her game-high 22 points in overtime to lead visiting LSU over Tulane last night.
LSU (5-0), which scored only five points in the final 15:30 of regulation, played without Allison Hightower for the last 2:44 and all of overtime. She fell to the floor with a leg injury and watched the rest of the game from the baseline at the end of the Tigers bench.
No. 14 Georgia 75, Alabama State 48: Freshman Jasmine James scored 17 points to lead Georgia to a victory over visiting Alabama State last night.
All nine players who dressed for Georgia (4-0) played and scored, including 13 apiece by Ashley Houts and Anne Marie Armstrong and 11 by Porsha Phillips.
Furman 58, WSSU 45: Winston-Salem State fell to visiting Furman last night despite three players reaching double-digit scoring.
WSSU's junior trio of guard Rene Rector, guard Nikki Kee, and forward Vontisha Woods led the way offensively. Woods and Kee scored 11 points each, while Rector added 10 points. The Rams also got strong play from sophomore center Elizabeth Maas who played a career-high 21 minutes with six points, five rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Coastal Carolina 72, Western Carolina 64: Western Carolina (1-4) lost the consolation game of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout to Coastal Carolina (3-2) yesterday in Anchorage.
