FORT BRAGG
About 10 people spent the night outside a store at an Army base in North Carolina for the chance to meet former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
Rosemary Haney of Fayetteville arrived nearly 24 hours before Palin's scheduled Monday visit to Fort Bragg. Haney, 63, wanted to make sure she could meet Palin and hopes she'll run for president in 2012.
Palin plans to sign copies of her memoir. An Army spokesmen says Palin will not make a speech, pose for photos, or personalize notes in the books she signs at the on-post store.
The Army has worried Palin's appearance would prompt political grandstanding against President Obama. That fear initially led post commanders to limit news organizations interested in covering Palin, though the restrictions were later dropped.
Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum told WTVD that sales of Palin's book at the post store have been weak so far.
