RALEIGH - The N.C. Commerce Department said yesterday that it has named Larry Shirley as director of the department's efforts regarding the use of energy in a "green economy."
Shirley most recently served as director of the State Energy Office for nine years. He also served as executive director of the N.C. Solar Center at N.C. State University for 13 years, and as assistant director of the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation in Winston-Salem.
Ward Lenz was named to replace Shirley with the State Energy Office.
