Furniture Brands International reports $23.5 million loss

ST. LOUIS - Furniture Brands International Inc. reported a loss of $23.5 million in the third quarter, compared with a loss of $41.7 million in the third quarter of 2008.
The furniture company, which operates three manufacturers and marketers in North Carolina, had an earnings loss of 48 cents a share, compared with a loss of 86 cents a share a year ago.
