■ Arts and Crafts Fair: The Gingerbread Arts and Crafts Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at South Fork Community Center, 4403 Country Club Road. The fair will also run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Homemade gifts and baked goods will be sold.
Admission and parking is free.
■ Open House: UNC Schools of the Arts will conduct an open house for prospective students beginning at 10:30 a.m. with registration. An information fair will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is required.

■ Pottery Show: The 6th annual Southern Heritage Pottery and Folk Art Show will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Madeleine Dassow Learning Center, 1203 Frances Daily Court, Colfax. Admission is free.
Proceeds from a silent auction will be given to Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont.
■ Meet the Author: Cliff Garstang will be signing his book, In an Uncharted Country, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Shakespeare & Co., 617 Chesham Drive, Kernersville.
■ Fall Concert: Old Salem Museums and Gardens will have a free concert at 3 p.m. at St. Philips Church, 911 S. Church Street. The Winston-Salem State University Choir will perform gospel and spiritual selections. A reception in the Log Church will follow the concert.
■ Gingerbread Contest: The Candy Factory will accept entries for its 6th annual gingerbread-house decorating contest on Friday, Nov. 20. Entry fee is $10 and will benefit Habitat for Humanity. Rules and entry forms may be picked up at The Candy Factory, 15 N. Main Street, Lexington, or online at www.sweettoothgifts.com. Prizes will be awarded to adults, teens and families with children 12 and under.
