CHARLOTTE
North Carolina business leaders are cheering three of their heroes.

The North Carolina Business Hall of Fame inducts a Raleigh restaurant entrepreneur, a Winston-Salem banker and a former Raleigh mayor during a celebration Thursday in Charlotte.

The three chosen by the state Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement includes Golden Corral founder James Maynard. He built the Raleigh-based company into a chain of 490 restaurants in 42 states.

John Allison is the chairman of Winston-Salem's BB&T and a professor at Wake Forest University.

The third inductee is real estate developer and former Raleigh mayor Smedes York.

The North Carolina Business Hall of Fame has recognized outstanding contributions to the state's economy for more than 20 years.
