Police are looking for two men who robbed a pawn shop in northeastern Winston-Salem yesterday.

The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. at NC Pawn, 4330 Old Walkertown Road, Winston-Salem police said in a news release.

The store's clerk told police that two men armed with handguns and wearing facial masks entered the building and confronted him and a customer.

One of the suspects hit the customer in the head with a gun, before the two ran out of the store with both cash from the register and items taken from display counters.

Paramedics treated the customer at the scene for a minor injury.

Replacement member appointed for baseball stadium review panel

The Winston-Salem City Council last night approved a new member for the Citizens Baseball Stadium Review Committee, which was created by the council this summer to provide citizen oversight of city spending on the new downtown baseball stadium.

The new member, Jessica Harris Telligman, 30, is a lawyer in private practice.

She will replace Howard Hudson Jr., an original committee member who resigned in September.

In his resignation letter, Hudson said that he resigned in part because the committee's first report to city-council committees was "largely channeled by city staff" and "fell short of expressing many of the serious concerns discussed by the committee."
