HIGH POINT - The decline in orders for domestic furniture manufacturers and marketers continued again in August, decreasing 12 percent year-over-year to a value of $1.5 billion, Smith Leonard PLLC, a financial-services company based in High Point, reported yesterday.
Orders also were down 7 percent compared with July.
The survey found that 80 percent of the participants reported declines in orders during August. For the year, orders are off 19 percent to $12.2 billion. About 90 percent of participants report a decline in sales for the year to date.
