MOUNT AIRY -- A man suspected in the fatal shootings of four men at a Mount Airy television shop has been captured in Virginia.

Police have also released the names of victims.

Marcos Chavez Gonzalez was arrested early Monday morning at a Super 8 motel on Memorial Drive in Martinsville, about 50 miles northeast of Mount Airy near the state line, Mount Airy police said.

Police said in a statement that said authorities received information about Gonzalez's whereabouts around 2:30 a.m. He was arrested without incident.

A Surry County magistrate issued an arrest warrant Sunday for Gonzalez, 29, said Chief Dale Watson of the Mount Airy Police Department. Gonzalez is charged with four counts of first-degree murder.

Police identified the victims as Juan Manuel Martinez, 26; Javier Manuel Martinez, 21;
Victor Alfonso Martinez-Jimemez, 22; all of Mount Airy and Marcos Oviedo Aguilar, 21, of Surry County.

Juan and Javier were brothers, Victor was their cousin and Marcos Aguilar was a mutual friend, police said.

The suspect Marcos Chavez Gonzalez, waived extradition and was brought from Henry County, Va. to Mount Airy about 2:30 p.m., police officials also said.

Chief Watson said investigators were still following leads and interviewing witnesses yesterday.

He would not confirm details about what led to the shooting, wich took place about 2:15 p.m. behind the Wood's TV and appliance store at 729 Worth St., in the historic district of Mount Airy.

Two of the men died at the scene while the other two other died later at Northern Hospital of Surry County, authorities said.

"This was not a random event," Watson told reporters during a news conference Sunday night at Mount Airy police headquarters.

Investigators are trying to determine why the men were in the parking lot.

A high-powered rifle was used in the shooting, Watson said.

The State Bureau of Investigation, the Surry County Sheriff's Office and the N.C. Highway Patrol are assisting Mount Airy police in its investigation, Watson also said.
