In conjunction with the First Friday Gallery Hop from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at Sixth and Trade streets, several galleries will have free receptions for new exhibitions:
❑ Island Arts On Trade in the Artists On Liberty Building, 521 N. Liberty St., will present "Other England." It is composed of photography by Amanda Sullivan of England, Scotland and Wales. It will be on view through Nov. 30. For more information, call 354-9796.
❑ Artworks Gallery, 564 N. Trade St., will have a two-person show by Nelida Otero Flatow and Mary Beth Blackwell-Chapman. Flatow will present drawings and paintings of shells, fish and other sea-related subjects. Blackwell-Chapman's exhibition, "Fabulous Animals," will comprise large-scale mythological creatures in clay. The exhibitions will be on view from Tuesday through Nov. 28. ❑ The Other Half, 560 N. Trade St., will be showing encaustics and oils on paper by Antoinette Noble. "Noble Works" will be on display through Jan. 5. For more information, call 407-5494.
❑ Urban Artware, 207 W. Sixth St., will present "Space Odyssey," a 1970s-inspired installation by Millicent Greason-Spivak and Peter Spivak, and "Here Today, Gone Tomorrow," a selection of oil paintings, ceramics, found-object art and watercolors by Mark Casey Milestone.
