ARCHDALE -- Stickley Fine Upholstery, a furniture manufacturer based in Manlius, N.Y., wants to expand its high-end production to a second plant in Archdale, according to the Randolph County Economic Development Corp.
The company said it would spend $880,000 on renovating a former warehouse to make furniture for a product line that it recently purchased. The company would add 20 jobs that pay $14 to $15 an hour, beginning next year.
Stickley purchased a Unifi Inc. textile plant in Archdale in 1999 and employs 165 workers there.
The company has requested a combined $11,250 in economic incentives from Archdale and Randolph County -- the cost of extending a natural-gas line 1,700 feet.
