Reynolds 5, Greensboro Page 4: The No. 2 doubles team of Dillon Segur and Chad Hoskins defeated James Yates and Harrison Holbrook yesterday to help Reynolds defeat Greensboro Page in the NCHSAA Class 4-A quarterfinals at Hanes Park.
Segur and Hoskins defeated Yates and Holbrook 10-5. Segur and Hoskins led 4-3 before winning the next five games to take a commanding 9-3 lead.
The teams split the six singles matches, but Page won at No. 3 doubles after Wade Thiel and Mason Robb defeated Max Swindle and Tommy Healy 10-1, to give Page a 4-3 lead.
Reynolds tied it at No. 1 doubles after Robbie Mudge, the state 4-A individual champion, and partner Parker Chang, defeated Landon Kinsey and Austin Ansari. Mudge and Chang took a 6-1 lead, but Page battled back to tie it. However, Reynolds won the next four games to tie the team match at 4.
According to Coach Brad Fisher of Reynolds, it's the first time since 1984 that Reynolds has defeated Page (12-1).
Reynolds (19-2) will play at Charlotte Ardrey Kell, which defeated Charlotte Myers Park 5-4 yesterday, in Thursday's semifinals at 4 p.m.

Mount Tabor 7, North Mecklenburg 4: Brad Wrege laced a two-run double in the bottom of the third inning to give Mount Tabor the lead for good in a second-round win of the NCHSAA 4-A playoffs against visiting North Mecklenburg last night.
Mount Tabor (16-6) trailed 3-2 after Sean Pope of North Mecklenburg hit a three-run home run in the top of the third inning.
The Spartans, fueled by Wrege's double, tacked on four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 6-3 lead.
Mat Batts added a solo home run in the fifth for Mount Tabor, which will play at home against Northwest Guilford in the third round on Friday.
Parker Thomas (5-1) got the win, and Garrett Hickman pitched the final three innings to earn the save.

NW Guilford 4, West Forsyth 3 (8): Sanders Kuxhausen drove in Phillip Dixon on a sacrifice fly with one out in the eighth inning as Northwest Guilford came from behind to edge West Forsyth in the second round of the NCHSAA 4-A state playoffs last night in Greensboro.
Northwest (21-3) trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, but got a two-run single from Robbie McIntosh to tie the game at 3 and send it to extra innings.
McIntosh (3-0) also pitched the final four innings to pick up the win.
Dustin Meyers went 3 for 4 and drove in all three runs for West Forsyth, which finished its season 12-10.
Northwest Guilford will play at Mount Tabor on Friday night in the third round.
