Local Auditions

• THE WINSTON-SALEM SYMPHONY YOUTH ORCHESTRAS will hold auditions for the 2009-2010 season, May 30-31, in the Scales Fine Arts Center at Wake Forest University. The orchestras are open to all musicians in first through 12th grades who play orchestral instruments. The audition fee is $20 per student/family. Audition requirements are listed on the Winston-Salem Symphony's Web site at www.wssymphony.org.
Students must schedule an audition time in advance by contacting Beverly Naiditch at 725-1035, ext.211, or e-mail bevnaiditch@wssymphony.org.
• THE ODD COUPLE -- THE FEMALE VERSION: The Alleghany Community Theatre will hold auditions at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Sparta Presbyterian Church, 160 S. Main St., Sparta. There are roles available for six women and two men, mid-30s to mid-to-late 40s.
