Scott Geist of Ellicott City, Md., responded to a request for caramelized onions -- with a little help from his mother-in-law.
When Jean Marlow, who lives in East Bend, read that Recipe Swap was looking for such a recipe, she immediately called Geist, knowing that he could help.
"I have been making pizzas for years, and everyone raves over the carmelized onions I use," Geist wrote.
Best of all, he said, they're easy to make.
2 Vidalia onions, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
4 tablespoons brown sugar
Place onions, butter or margarine and brown sugar in a large frying pan over medium heat. Saute, stirring often, until onions are fully caramelized (soft and brown), 15 to 20 minutes.
□ Recipe Swap would like recipes for budget-friendly hamburger casseroles that do not use condensed soup.
