Winston-Salem police searched last night for a man accused of robbing a vending-machine employee who was servicing machines at Goodwill Industries on University Parkway.

A magistrate issued an arrest warrant charging Antwan Lamont Campbell, 18, with armed robbery and second-degree kidnapping, police said.

A man approached the employee about 9:30 a.m. yesterday and told him that he had a gun and demanded money, police said. The man then forced the employee to move aside. He then took the money and left.

Anyone with information about Campbell's whereabouts can call police at 773-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 727-2800.

Mount Airy man identified as victim of wreck Tuesday

MOUNT AIRY -- Authorities have identified a Mount Airy man who was killed Tuesday in a two-car wreck on N.C. 89 across from an outlet store near Interstate 77.

Olin James Grimes, 53, of Fancy Gap Road died Tuesday night at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, said Trooper J.R. Vindich of the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Grimes was a passenger in a car driven by Hillery Wayne Barker, 53, of 2033 Round Peak Church Road in Lowgap. Barker was traveling east on N.C. 89 shortly after 4 p.m. when he tried to make a left turn at a gas station, Vindich said. Barker failed to yield to oncoming traffic and collided with a westbound car driven by Ruth Goad Davis.

Grimes was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car.

Barker was also taken to Baptist, where he was in stable condition yesterday, Vindich said.

Davis was treated at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy and released. She had her 3-year-old grandson in the back seat. He was not injured.

The highway patrol has charged Barker with driving while impaired.

Authorities search for man in connection with 4 deaths

CONOVER -- North Carolina authorities are looking for a man after a mother and three children were killed in their home.

Chief Deputy Coy Reid of the Catawba County Sheriff's Office said that a neighbor called authorities yesterday morning after seeing the woman being attacked on her front porch just north of Conover in Catawba County, about 40 miles northwest of Charlotte.

Authorities found the woman and her three children -- including an adult daughter, a teenage daughter and a young boy -- either shot or stabbed to death, Reid said.

Authorities are looking for a man in his late 30s or early 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall who was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt. He is thought to be in a black or dark blue newer model Toyota Camry.

Stepmother of teenager who died tied to tree posts bond

TARBORO -- A North Carolina woman whose 13-year-old stepson died after being left tied to a tree overnight has been released on bond on murder charges in the teen's death.

Sandra McMillan posted a $200,000 bond Monday. She had pleaded not guilty in January to first-degree murder, felony child abuse, aiding and abetting murder and aiding and abetting felony child abuse.

The teen's father, Brice McMillan, faces similar charges and remains in jail with no bond.
