Lexington - Jennifer Sanders Price pleaded guilty to second-degree murder today in Davidson Superior Court in the death of Cynthia Bullock Wingard.
Price, 26, formerly of Stuart, Va., was sentenced to 14 to 17 years and five months in prison.
Employees of Mid-State Industries found Wingard's body about 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2006, after returning to work from lunch. Her body was found wrapped in plastic and carpet in a parking lot.
An autopsy showed that Wingard died from a blow to the head. Wingard was 40 at the time of her death. Her last known address was 105 Council St., but she had lived in a number of other places.
It took a week to identify Wingard's body. Agents from he State Bureau of Investigation used fingerprints to identify her.
Price was initially charged last November with accessory after the fact in Wingard's death. On Dec. 19, Thomasville police charged Elijah Alphonso Hair Jr. with murder in the case, but District Attorney Garry Frank dismissed the murder charge two days later after investigators uncovered evidence that cast doubt on Hair's involvement. A person recanted a statement given to police after being confronted with evidence that Hair had an alibi.
In February, police charged Daniel Earl Garner, 32, of 313 Griffith St. in Thomasville with accessory after the fact in Wingard's death. He is accused of disposing Wingard's body. His case is still pending.
Late last month, Price was charged with murder in Wingard's death.
