Q. Is there a limit to the number of yard sales a household inside the Winston-Salem city limits can conduct? A house on my street is having its fifth consecutive Saturday sale; and from the looks of the boxes in the garage, there's no end in sight. We live on a cul-de-sac. With the traffic these weekly events generate, our children are unable to safely bike, use scooters or shoot hoops until mid-afternoon. -- J.B.

A. 'Tis the yard-sale season, and this question comes up frequently. Zoning regulations permit Winston-Salem and Forsyth County residents to have no more than two yard sales each year.

Operating a business in a residential area is a zon-ing ordinance no-no, and that's essentially what an every-weekend-seller is doing.

The city-county zoning office enforces zoning regulations.

The phone number is 727-8000.
