Theater Briefs: Plays about Johnson and Dula on bill

The Wilkes Playmakers will present its outdoor productions of Moonshine & Thunder, The Junior Johnson Story and Tom Dooley, A Wilkes County Legend at the Forest's Edge Amphitheatre in Forth Hamby Park, South Recreation Road on U.S. 421 N., Wilkesboro.

Moonshine & Thunder follows the early moonshine and racing career of NASCAR legend Junior Johnson. Tom Dooley is about the circumstances and murder trial of local man Thomas C. Dula in 1868.

Show time for Moonshine and Thunder is 8:30 p.m. Friday through next Sunday, June 30 and July 1-3. Show time for Tom Dooley is 8:30 p.m. July 5-12 and July 14-18.

Admission is $15, with group rates available for groups of 10 or more. The park will open to audience members at 7 p.m.
