Dell Inc. will start recalling some laid-off workers at its Forsyth County plant on Monday.
"We are hiring workers who had been previously laid off on a temporary basis to meet the demands of our business," Donna Oldham, a company spokeswoman, said today.
She declined to say how many people would be offered temporary work or how long they would be on the job. She said that everything would be based on the demands of the business.
"This is part of a hiring process and we'll look to our former employees first to determine if they are interested in temporary employment," she said.
Dell laid off about 260 people at the plant between January through May.
Oldham said that the company continues to evaluate the competiveness of its operations in a challenging business environment where demand for information technology remains mixed.
"We know that we need to meet the demands of our customers," she said. "We need to continue to drive this business, and we wanted to offer those opportunities to our former employees on a temporary basis."
