Clemmons woman hit by car, critically injured

A woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a car last night, the N.C. Highway Patrol said today.

Dawn Kay Blackburn, 44, of 3737 Frye Bridge Road, stepped out into the path of a Dodge van going south on Frye Bridge Road about 8 last night, the highway patrol said. The accident happened in the northern end of Davidson County near the Davidson-Forsyth County line.

The van was driven by Jess Edward Swingley, 54, of 273 Shady Oak Trail. He and a passenger, Adolfo Soto of Winston-Salem, were not injured. No charges were filed.

Blackburn was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
