Clemmons man accused in sexual assault of girl

A Clemmons man was arrested Friday on charges that he sexually assaulted a girl, the Davidson County Sheriff's Office said today in a news release.
The sheriff's office received a report about a sexual assault Friday. After an investigation, detectives found that an assault had taken place in the girl's home, the sheriff's office said. Investigators declined to give the girl's age, saying only that she was younger than 12.
David Lawrence Welborn Jr., 38, of 708 Frye Bridge Road, Lot 11, in Clemmons, was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of first-degree sexual offense and two counts of indecent liberties with a minor.
He is in the Davidson County Jail with bond set at $1 million.
