Boone - Authorities are trying to identify a body found at the scene of a camper fire Friday night in Sugar Grove northwest of Boone, according to the Watauga County Sheriff's Office.
A 911 call reported the fire at 10:43 p.m. Friday. When members of the Cove Creek Fire Department arrived at 4287 U.S. 321 North, they found a camper fully engulfed in flames.
Investigators with the Watauga County Fire Marshall's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation discovered a body, which was transported to Watauga Medical Center to be identified. The investigation is continuing.
