King man dies in crash on N.C. 66

A King man died in a crash in Stokes County Sunday, the N.C. Highway Patrol said this morning.
The crash happened on N.C. 66 near Covington Road about 7:30 p.m. Robert Benjamin Newsome, 23, the driver of the 2003 Jeep, went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and went off the left side, striking a tree, the highway patrol said.
A passenger in the car, Ruben Ashby, 29, was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was in fair condition this morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.
