The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning southeastern Davidson County, in an area already recovering from storms last night that brought up to five inches in some parts of the county.
This morning's storms could bring heavy rains and potentially deadly winds reaching more than 50 miles per hour, the weather service said.
The winds could knock down trees and power lines and could damage mobile homes and other buildings.
The additional rain will cause already swollen creeks and streams to peak more quickly, the weather service said. The Thomasville area could be prone to minor flooding as a result of this morning's rain.
The thunderstorm warning is in effect until 7:45 a.m.
