■ Clemens: Roger Clemens' attorney said that Clemens wasn't among the more than 100 players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003.
Rusty Hardin told The New York Times that Clemens obtained the results from the drug-testing company and provided them to Congress before his 2008 testimony by waiving his right to keep them private.
The results would not affect a federal grand jury's investigation into whether Clemens should be indicted for perjury. Clemens disputed former trainer Brian McNamee's claims that he injected Clemens with steroids and human-growth hormone from 1998 to 2001. McNamee made no assertions about 2003, and HGH wasn't tested for them.
Players were anonymously tested in 2003 with no penalties. Hardin said he was revealing the results now because other players recently have been linked to the list.
■ Indians: Cleveland has activated recently acquired right-hander Winston Abreu and designated Matt Herges for assignment.
Abreu was acquired Thursday from the Tampa Bay Rays for minor-league right-hander John Meloan and cash. He is the 26th pitcher to appear on Cleveland's active roster this season.
In two games with Tampa Bay, Abreu had no record and a 2.45 ERA after being called up from Class AAA Durham, where he went 3-0 with 10 saves in 10 chances and a 1.41 ERA.
Herges, 39, was signed by the Indians to a minor-league contract in January and split the season between Class AAA Columbus and Cleveland. In 21 appearances out of the Indians' bullpen, he went 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA.
■ Mariners: High Desert's James McOwen has extended his hitting streak to 40 games with a single in the ninth inning of a 6-4 loss at Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
McOwen, an outfielder drafted in the sixth round in 2007 out of Florida International, was 0 for 2 with a walk for Seattle's Class A affiliate on Friday night before grounding a single to center with two outs in the ninth.
McOwen, who broke the California League record when he hit in his 36th straight game, has a way to go to reach the minor-league mark.
Wichita's Joe Wilhoit hit in 69 straight games in 1919. Joe DiMaggio, who hit in a major-league record 56 consecutive games in 1941, has the second-longest minor-league streak with 61 games for the San Francisco Seals in 1933.
■ Yankees: Starter Chien-Ming Wang left yesterday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a strained right shoulder.
Wang surrendered a two-run homer to Adam Lind with one out in the sixth and threw a pitch to Scott Rolen before Manager Joe Girardi and trainer Gene Monahan came out of the dugout. Girardi opted to replace Wang with David Robertson.
The Yankees said Wang would get an MRI yesterday. Wang already has spent time on the disabled list this season with weakness in the adductor muscles in his hips.
■ Pirates: Two former aspiring cricket players who won a reality show in India have made their professional baseball debuts.
Left-hander Rinku Singh and right-hander Dinesh Patel, neither of whom had heard of baseball before appearing on The Million Dollar Arm, each got a strikeout for Pittsburgh's rookie-level minor-league team, the lowest level in the minor leagues.
Singh, who came in first on the show, allowed one run and two hits in one inning, throwing 19 pitches.
Patel, who was second, threw eight pitches in a scoreless inning. Both are 20 years old.
The show tried to find cricket players who could throw the most pitches 85 mph or faster for strikes. The show had more than 30,000 entries and is in its second season.
■ Nationals: Right-hander Jesus Colome has been designated for assignment by Washington.
The move involving Colome was announced after Washington's 5-3 victory against the Atlanta Braves yesterday. Colome was the losing pitcher in a 9-8 defeat to Atlanta on Friday.
Colome was 1-1 with an 8.40 ERA in 16 relief appearances. The Nationals have 10 days to trade, release or send him outright to the minor leagues.
■ Padres: Catcher Henry Blanco left yesterday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a strained right hamstring.
Blanco pulled up rounding first base after hitting a broken-bat single with two outs in the second inning. He was replaced by pinch-runner Eliezer Alfonzo, who stayed in as catcher.
