Mariners 7, Red Sox 6 (11): Rob Johnson doubled home two runs in the 11th inning and visiting Seattle beat Boston last night.
George Kottaras hit his first major-league homer in the bottom of the 11th for the Red Sox, who tied the game at 5 with two runs in the eighth inning.
Seattle's Ronny Cedeno hit a tie-breaking, two-run homer in a three-run fourth, three batters after a fan in the front row snatched a foul pop that third baseman Kevin Youkilis was attempting to make a play on.
Indians 15, A's 3: Shin-Soo Choo homered twice and drove in a career-high seven runs to lead Cleveland past visiting Oakland last night, snapping its five-game losing streak.
Choo had an RBI single, two-run double, three-run homer and capped his night with a solo shot, his 12th. It was Choo's second career multihomer game and the most RBIs by a Cleveland player since Grady Sizemore drove in seven Aug. 21 against Kansas City.
Cleveland, with the worst record in the AL at 32-49, won for only the third time in 16 games. Asdrubal Cabrera had three RBIs in the Indians' biggest output since a 22-4 win at Yankee Stadium on April 18. They totaled only 13 runs and batted .195 during their five-game losing skid.
Yankees 4, Blue Jays 2: A.J. Burnett scattered six hits over seven innings, Robinson Cano and Alex Rodriguez homered, and New York beat visiting Toronto yesterday.
The Yankees rebounded from Thursday night's 8-4 loss to Seattle for their eighth win in nine games.
Burnett (7-4), who lost to his former team at Toronto on May 12, allowed two runs, struck out seven and walked two. Mariano Rivera struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 21st save in 22 chances.
White Sox 5, Royals 0: John Danks threw 71/3 shutout innings and got a big lift from reliever Scott Linebrink as visiting Chicago beat Kansas City last night for its seventh straight victory.
A. J. Pierzynski homered and he and Scott Podsednik both had three hits for the White Sox, who won for the 11th time in 13 games.
Chicago has won five straight against the Royals, who have lost seven of nine.
Rangers 3, Rays 1: Tommy Hunter earned his first career victory on his 23rd birthday, Hank Blalock homered and Texas beat visiting Tampa Bay last night.
Hunter (1-1) was making his sixth career start and third this season. He allowed three hits and struck out five in 51/3 innings to help slow down baseball's top-scoring offense.
Jason Jennings, C.J. Wilson and Frank Francisco pitched 32/3 innings of scoreless relief to complete the three-hitter, which equals the fewest hits Tampa Bay has had this season. Francisco pitched a perfect ninth for his 13th save.
