Man surrenders in standoff in which shots are fired

MADISON -- Rockingham County sheriff's deputies arrested a man who fired at least 30 shots at them from inside his home during a 90-minute standoff Wednesday night.

Gerry Bullins, 30, became irate during an argument with family members Wednesday night and began firing shots from a .22-caliber rifle, deputies said. Bullins surrendered to deputies and was taken to a hospital.

No one was hurt, Rockingham County officials said.
