ROCKY MOUNT
An eastern North Carolina sheriff says a task force is looking into the killings of five women whose bodies have been found in his county in the past four years.
Edgecombe County Sheriff James Knight says the five cases of women found since 2005 remain unsolved. The latest discovery was Monday by a farm worker.
Multiple media outlets have reported four of the bodies were found in the northern end of the county.
Knight says the State Bureau of Investigation has been involved in the developing case and the district attorney and Rocky Mount police also have discussed involvement.
The sheriff wouldn't say the cases are related.
