■ Cookout for Cancer: A benefit for Davidson County Cancer Services Inc. will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at NewBridge Bank's main Lexington office, at 38 W. First Ave. Two hot dogs, chips and a drink will cost $5. All proceeds will go to the DCCS Charity Ball and will be tripled with a donation from Lexington resident Ed Hinkle.

Monday

■ Book exhibit: The Forsyth County Public Library will display a collection of books bought in memory of Jean Godfrey Block, a longtime staff member, from July 6 to 11 in the humanities department of the Central Library at 660 W. Fifth St. The books were bought with money contributed by Block's friends, family and co-workers. Their subjects, ballet and classic children's book illustration, were interests of Block's. The books will be available to check out after the exhibit ends. For more information, call 703-3050.

Wednesday

■ School fundraiser: A portion of the day's sales from the Kernersville locations of the following restaurants will be contributed to grants for public schools in Kernersville: Chick-Fil-A, CiCi's Pizza, Domino's Pizza, Fritz on Main, Kerner House Restaurant & Cafeteria, Subway, Terry's Deli, The Loop and Wendy's. Reunions

■ The Lincoln Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association will hold a reunion Aug. 7 to 9 in Durham. All nursing alumni and their descendants, as well as former Lincoln Hospital staff members, volunteers and patients, and other community members are invited.
