Looking for a reliable red to go with steak? The 2007 J. Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles, Calif., $12) may be just the thing. This cab offers a brambly aroma of dark berries and black currant. The taste of ripe blackberries mingles with a hint of vanilla and a pleasant earthiness. Best of all, this is well-balanced with integrated tannins that don't hit you over the head. Serve with steak and roasted and braised meats. Widely available.
