Jonesville - A Jonesville man has been found alive after spending two nights in the white Cadillac he wrecked down a steep embankment along Interstate 77, authorities said.
A farmer was feeding his cows at about 10:30 this morning and saw the car from his fields, authorities said.
The car belonging to Miles Grady Brooks, an 84-year-old man who disappeared Sunday night, Jonesville police said. Dispatchers had taken calls Sunday night from motorists reporting a white Cadillac traveling south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 77.
A Silver Alert was issued Monday morning after relatives reported Brooks missing. He suffers from a cognitive impairment. Police officers drove along the interstate a number of times but were unable to find Brooks or his car.
When police officers reached the car this morning, Brooks was alert and talking, authorities said.
Brooks had driven off the interstate at a construction zone near exit 76. The car was not visible from the roadway.
An emergency medical crew took Brooks to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman said Brooks, of 203 Jonesville Blvd., was under evaluation.
